We have received Shigaraki Uzukumaru by Sugimoto Sadamitsu.

Its tranquil appearance is beautiful.

In his thirties, he met Tachibana Daiki Roshi of Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto, and studied the spirit of the tea ceremony, in other words, wabi-sabi, under him.

He quit his work as an artist and devoted himself to creating works that transcend time and people.

He found clay that he was satisfied with, listened to the clay, and said, "I want to make it well, I want to express myself."
He cast aside evil thoughts and poured himself wholeheartedly into bringing out the individuality of the clay.

His works are housed in the Kitcho Yuki Museum of Art, Yale University Art Museum, Clark Center for Research in Japanese Art and Culture, and Shiga Ceramic Cultural Museum.
